Our first project is Ecotopia: Turning Ethiopia into Ecotopia with bamboo homes. First city: Shashamane.

Hello. Thank you for liking a photo I posted. Otherwise, I never would have been acquainted with your blog. Is there anyway you can show me more of what you do towards building sustainability in Afrika? I am a part of an organization called the Sankofa Afrika Organization and our main mission is the social and economic development of Afrikan people within the Afrikan continent. From what I see so far, I am interested in possibly doing something to raise funds for your initiative. I just need more information to bring back to my group. Can you provide that for me?

Hi! Your welcome for the ‘like’ and thank you for your interest and support. We are very dedicated to improving the living conditions of Africa by building bamboo houses for communties across the continent and raising awareness about the 1500 uses of bamboo especially its green building aspects. My nonprofit organization, Africa Life Project is currently working on developing project Ecotopia. Our first destination in Ethiopia is Shashamane, Ethiopia. We will be promoting building plans for ecofriendly bamboo homes that will serve as a model for other communities in ethiopia, transforming itself into EcotopiaHere’s my site africalifeproject.com where you can get more information about our project and about bamboo as a sustainable building material. We are new to this and would appreciate any help or resources that you could provide. Thank you for answering my question. As you may know, there are entire villages in Ethiopia that currently build with bamboo. However, one of the main causes of deforestation in Ethiopia is burning wood for cooking and heating. The rural population still relies on wood to cook and heat.

With a bamboo house it would serve as a great combination for a completely ‘green’ home.
